ORLANDO- Last night (November 4) the Orlando Magic returned home to cancel the Lake-show after a strong performance from their young trio: Paolo Banchero, Anthony Black and Franz Wagner.
The German Guard, Franz Wagner, lead Orlando in scoring last night, recording 26 Points, 5 Rebounds and 2 Assists. Wagner’s highlight play came via a fast break connection from Paolo Banchero. Despite being 6 foot 10, the 2021 first round pick showed off his impressive body control inside the paint, catching Banchero’s lob, absorbing contact and laying the ball up. Wagner’s basketball IQ showed on this play, as the Giant German stayed in the air, enabling him to draw a foul.
Paolo Banchero was the feature on the court last night. The 2022 #1 Overall Pick and Rookie of the Year recorded a double-double in the matchup, recording:
34 Minutes
25 Points
10 Assists
7 Rebounds
60% from the field
One of Banchero’s most impressive plays of the night came early in third quarter when he crossed up Lebron James outside the three point line, gracefully drove to the paint, where he met Anthony Davis. As Banchero rises in the air he draws the foul from Davis and releases the ball. As the layup falls through the hoop, the crowd sang “AND ONE” in support of their star.
Banchero also showed off his range with a beautiful step-back-three early in the matchup.
The Magic Men had another massive headline in last night’s game, as 2023 first round pick Anthony Black made his first career start. The former Arkansas Razerback had a solid performance recording 11 Points, 4 Rebounds and 2 Assists. The 19 year old rookie showed he can do it all last night, draining corner threes and slamming dunks in the paint.
Orlando improves to 4-2 on the season, bringing the Magic to 4th in the Eastern Conference. They will host the Dallas Mavericks in their next matchup on November 6th. Tip off is slated for 7:00 P.M.
