INDIANAPOLIS – Pitt defensive tackle Calijah Kancey is taking the 2023 NFL Combine by storm.

The Miami native shocked media and scouts alike after running a 4.67 40-yard dash this afternoon (March 2).

Kancey ran the fastest time for a defensive tackle in this event since 2000.

Kancey is a Miami Northwestern alumni and was rated as a three-star recruit by Rivals.com.

Kancey held offers from multiple FBS schools such as Louisville, App. State, FAU and Tulane, but ultimately signed with the University of Pittsburgh.

Through three seasons with the Panthers, Kancey recorded 91 total tackles, 34.5 tackles for loss, and 16 sacks.

In 2022, Kancey earned ACC Defensive Player of the Year honors after recording 31 tackles and seven sacks.

One of Kancey’s pro comparisons has always been Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle and Pitt alum Aaron Donald.

Donald measures in at 6-foot-1, 284 pounds, and Kancey measured into the NFL Combine at 6-foot, 280 pounds. The comparisons don’t stop there, as Kancey narrowly beat Donald’s 40-yard dash record of 4.68 from 2014 with a 4.67.

Calijah Kancey only participated in the 40-yard dash, but he surely left an early statement in Indy.
