Miami, FL.- Inter-Miami has quickly re-grasped their groove, and the rest of the world needs to be on notice.
Tonight (May 31), Inter-Miami hosted the Columbus Crew in their final match before the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, and let’s just say, it was over from the get go.
Inter-Miami opened the match aggressively, driving the ball down the field. After two missed opportunities offensively, the Herons finally found the back of the goal as Lionel Messi found Tadeo Allende on a long pass, leading to a 6 yard chip shot (1-0, 13′).

Before I could even comprehend what had just happened, Inter-Miami found themselves celebrating again, this time from a 10 yard bomb that came off Messi’s golden left cleat (2-0, 15′). Leo would go score his second goal in the first twenty five minutes of play, this time off a floater right over the head of Columbus’ goalie (3-0, ’24).

Inter-Miami would facilitate the remaining twenty plus minutes, entering halftime with that comfortable 3-Nil lead.
After a few short minutes of failed possessions, Columbus would score their only points of the night, as Cesar Ruvalcaba capitalized off the set piece (3-1, 58′). Ruvalcaba’s goal didn’t frighten Inter-Miami, as mere minutes later; Luis Suarez would slice the ball through a tight angle to set the lead 4-1 (64′).

Throughout the remainder of the match, Inter-Miami facilitated once again. Less than ten minutes after his introduction to the match, Messi launched another long ball, this time to Fafa Picault who would punch a last minute dagger into the hearts of all, setting up the final score of 5-1.

As you can see, Inter-Miami is red hot at the perfect time. While the Herons will be taking a presumably long break from MLS play, they have their eyes set on global sights, as they will be competing in the FIFA Club World during mid June. Inter-Miami’s first match will be June 14 vs Al Ahly of the Egyptian Premier League, with kickoff slated for 8:00 P.M.
