Palm Beach County, FL.- As the summer rapidly comes to a close, there’s absolute mayhem around Florida High School football.
This week marks the official beginning to the 2026-27 FHSAA High School Football season, with programs across the state beginning fall camp. There’s something new coming to the state, as following Monday, July 27, any student athlete who participates in a workout with a school will now be locked in to that team. No more hopping between workout to workout before making a decision, it’s one and done.
With the high school transfer portal as prevalent as ever throughout the spring semester and early summer, this move from the FHSAA was placed to *hopefully* control the madness.
Down here in the 561, it would be foolish to assume that last minute moves aren’t being made. This will most certainly be an ever evolving story as the week progresses, but here are a few of Palm Beach’s finest who are set to make big decisions as the end of the summer looms.
Aydan Elam, ATH 2029: Cardinal Newman to The King’s Academy
TKA’s getting a big time playmaker that can shine at practically any position in Aydan Elam. The 6 foot 2 rising sophomore stood out specifically on defense for the Cardinal Newman Crusaders during their 1A State Title run, recording 2 Interceptions including a 104 yard pick 6 against Benjamin. Elam is an elite boundary corner that despite his youth showed that he could fortify an entire side of the field in coverage, while also being able to crash down on the run.
Aydan Elam also possesses high offensive upside, as he prepares to line up under center for the Lions in a 3-way QB battle during camp.
Brody Wilson, WR 2028: Park Vista to Oxbridge Academy
Brody Wilson has the potential to emerge as one of the top slot-outs in the area. The 5 foot 8 speedster finally had an opportunity to showcase what he could do during Park Vista’s spring game vs Seminole Ridge, opening the contest with a 50 yard catch and run to set up an early score for the Cobras. Now at Oxbridge, Wilson has the opportunity to step into a WR1 role, pairing with longtime teammate and childhood best friend QB Brady Basis.
Jayden Lockhart, RB 2027: Spanish River to Vero Beach
It’s time for Jayden Lockhart to step into that RB1 role he was always destined for. Lockhart spent his first three seasons at West Boca Raton, contributing greatly in the Bulls back-to-back FHSAA 6A titles. “J-Lock” has tallied 1,444 yards and 9 touchdowns on the ground, while supplementing an additional 250 and 3 scores as a receiving threat. Lockhart especially shined during his sophomore campaign following a mid-season injury to now Miami Hurricane Javian Mallory which would sideline him for the remainder of the year. As the true RB1 back then, Jayden recorded 979 yards, 6 touchdowns and 5 100+ yard Friday Nights as West Boca was crowned State Champs.
Now at Vero Beach, Jayden is ready to be a main contributor in a versatile offense featuring the likes of 4-Star Notre Dame Commit QB Champ Monds and WR Latravious Woods as the Fighting Indians look to finally get over the hump and win their first State Title since 1981.
Jermonty Kimbrough, S 2027: Royal Palm Beach to Vero Beach
Jermonty Kimbrough is back in the 772 as he joins a star studded Vero Beach squad. Kimbrough did it all on Royal Palm’s defense last season, recording over 50 tackles, 12 pass breakups, 1 INT and 1 sack for the Wildcats in 2025. Jermonty is an absolute thumper who excelled in crashing down on the run. Kimbrough holds 29 Offers including Purdue, Cal., WKU and Princeton.
As previously stated for Jayden Lockhart, Jermonty Kimbrough is most certainly a welcome addition that’ll contribute right away for the Vero Beach Fighting Indians as they look to return to the big dance.
Kai Sainmervil, DB 2027: Spanish River to Palm Beach Central
Early on into his now lengthy high school career, Kai Sainmervil quickly cemented himself as one of Palm Beach’s top corners. During his first 3 seasons at Spanish River, the 6 foot 1 Sainmervil put a blanket on every opponent’s WR1, recording 6 interceptions and 20 PBU’s. Despite shutting down an entire sector of the field, Kai proved himself as a relentless run defender, amassing 96 total tackles, 7 tackles for loss, 3 forced fumbles and 2 fumble recoveries.
With enough positional versatility to shine at Corner, Safety or as a Box Linebacker, Kai Sainmervil will be an easy plug and play leader on a star studded Palm Beach Central Broncos defense.
Markese ‘Bam’ Vaughn, RB 2029: St John Paul II to Saint Andrew’s
The freshman star Markese Vaughn exploded onto the scene during St. John Paul II’s spring game vs Westminster, compiling almost 300 all purpose yards and 2 scores, earning a nomination for NewEraPrep Spring MVP. Vaughn is a young, explosive North-South back who’s got his best football ahead of him. Markese’s biggest strength comes with his versatility as a pass catcher, making him a show stopping threat especially in quick game offense.
Markese prepares to join a Saint Andrew’s program that’s known for producing elite running back play including Bill Young, Jackson Parke and Remi DeOrsey in recent memory. The Scot’s now boast a nice offensive tandem with senior QB Jack Williams and All-American Bowl participant WR Wesley Winn.
Mike Sineace, WR 2028: Santaluces to Park Vista
Junior season is officially on the clock and Mike Sineace is ready to take that jump into super stardom. The 6 foot 3 wideout is one of the most physically gifted pass catchers in the area, possessing elite top speed and the explosiveness of a jack rabbit. Sineace recorded two receiving touchdowns during his sophomore year at Dr. Joaquin Garcia High.
Mike Sineace joins a loaded Park Vista offense including a senior trio of QB Erik Lee Jr., RB Elisha ‘EJ’ Gamble and WR Justice Jones. The Cobra’s offense will be a fast, explosive and fun group headed into the 2026 campaign.
Shawn Clark, DB 2027: Dwyer to Jupiter
Without a doubt Shawn Clark is the most underrated student-athlete in this article. Despite the Panthers going 0-11 last season, Clark was a bright spot on that Dwyer defense recording 34 solo tackles, 16 PBU and a 91 yard INT return TD. Put the tape on and you’ll see Clark is the complete package, possessing elite speed, fluid hips and incredible ball skills.
Shawn joins a scrappy Jupiter secondary including Nick Bothe, Brendan Hollinger and Jordan Dale as the Warriors look to defend their undefeated regular season from last season.
Wiz Sterling, EDGE 2027: West Boca Raton to Somerset Canyons
After a brief stop at West Boca Raton this spring, Wiz Sterling is back donning the blue and white for Somerset Canyons. Sterling has been a force to be reckoned with in the trenches, recording 22.5 sacks over the last two seasons and earning Somerset’s single season sack record as a sophomore with 12. Wiz has also recorded 76 total tackles, 28 tackles for loss, 9 QB hurries and 3 forced fumbles during his high school career.
As the Cougars prepare for their first season in the SSAA, the return of their three-star defensive lineman gives “The Set” a major boost and immediately puts Somerset Canyons in the conversation as an early championship contender.
