Palm Beach County, FL.– Five weeks into the 2026 high school football season, Palm Beach County has already produced plenty of storylines. From undefeated teams and breakout underclassmen to established seniors making their final push, several players have separated themselves with their production and impact.
Trey Moran, QB — West Boca Raton
We’re going to open this piece with the young man who I’d cast a vote for if there was an official ballot — Trey Moran.
It’s plain and simple: Trey Moran is a winner. Moran opened his senior year with high expectations and even better results, helping lead the West Boca Raton Bulls to some impressive early-season wins.
Through five games, Trey Moran has tallied 800 passing yards and seven touchdowns through the air on 56% completion, alongside 109 rushing yards and four touchdowns on the ground. Trey has recorded multiple three-touchdown games, including battles against in-state powers American Heritage (Plantation) and Miami Carol City.
The 5-foot-10 dual-threat senior has drawn comparisons to Kyler Murray for years, and this year, he’s putting up numbers and wins that the former Heisman Trophy winner could dream of.
Nick Bothe, ATH — Jupiter
The Jupiter Warriors haven’t skipped a beat as the Josh Brooks era gains traction. The Warriors from Military Trail stand at an undefeated 4-0, including a gritty win over Palm Beach Lakes and rivalry wins over Dwyer and Palm Beach Gardens.
One of the biggest reasons for Jupiter’s success in 2026 once again comes from the Swiss Army knife that is Nick Bothe.
Bothe flies all over the field, never missing a beat. It feels like every time the ball is in play, Nick Bothe is right in the middle of the action. Offensively, Nick has recorded 300 all-purpose yards and four touchdowns, paired with 15 tackles, two tackles for loss, four interceptions and a touchdown at safety.
The 6-foot senior is currently uncommitted and very available for any program looking to earn themselves a true ball player.
Jayden Cosby-Mosley, ATH — Benjamin
Jayden Cosby-Mosley has always been an absolute dog on the field. For his senior season, he’s become a whole different animal.
Cosby-Mosley has recorded a stat in practically every single statistical category, literally willing his Benjamin squad through some games. He currently stands with 13 tackles for loss, one sack, seven pass breakups, four interceptions, three forced fumbles, two fumble recovery touchdowns, one pick-six, one safety and four blocked punts.
Like Bothe, the 6-foot-2 defensive back’s recruitment is wide open and he would be the perfect plug-and-play piece for most Division I programs.
Latrell Johnson, RB — John I. Leonard
For years, the John I. Leonard Lancers have been one of the bottom-tier teams in Florida. 2026 flipped the status quo on its head, as the Lancers are now 4-0 following a transition to the Sunshine State Athletic Association.
One of the biggest sparks for JIL’s newfound success is senior RB Latrell Johnson. Johnson currently boasts 413 yards from scrimmage and eight touchdowns.
Pedro Martinez, QB — Cardinal Newman
The Cardinal Newman Crusaders are back on the quest to return to the State Championship game, and the right arm of junior QB Pedro Martinez may help return them to the promised land.
The 5-foot-10 Atlantic transfer has thrown for 761 yards on 67% completion with 10 touchdowns, alongside another 157 yards on the ground.
Martinez has the squad and the skills to help direct the second Crusade back to Pitbull Stadium.
Braylon Peterson, QB — Pahokee
The new kid on the block has taken Palm Beach County by storm.
Pahokee 2031 QB Braylon Peterson has become one of the earliest success stories of the season, defying the odds and leading the Blue Devils to some very impressive wins. The young signal caller has been poised and precise when the moment gets brightest, tossing for 750 yards and five touchdowns on 68% completion.
As the season has gone on, Braylon Peterson has only gotten more comfortable under center, so I expect him to continue his exponential growth by the end of the fall.
Cody Waters, QB — Olympic Heights
The Olympic Heights Lions are currently sitting at 2-2 as one of the better program turnarounds in Palm Beach County this fall.
One of the biggest sparks for the Lions comes under center, as senior QB Cody Waters has been incredible. Waters currently has 1,382 yards passing, which ranks sixth in Florida, and 17 touchdowns on 64% completion, alongside 285 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.
Wesley Winn, WR/DB — St. Andrews
Wesley Winn has leveled up his game during his senior year.
The former Navy All-American Bowl participant has been more than impressive this fall, contributing at all three levels of the game. Winn has tallied 30 catches for 404 yards and five touchdowns at receiver, alongside two special teams touchdowns and a pick-six on defense.
The versatile Wesley Winn currently boasts 859 all-purpose yards.
We’re only five weeks into the season, meaning there is still plenty of football left to be played, and multiple opportunities for other student-athletes to step into the spotlight.
