561 spotlight: West Boca’s Jesse Richardson

BOCA RATON – After only recording one win in his first two years of high school football, West Boca Raton linebacker Jesse Richardson (2024) finally got what he deserved.

A big part of West Boca’s 6-4 season last year, Richardson contributed to his team’s best season since 2014, leading the Bulls with three interceptions in 10 games played. He added one forced fumble, 30 solo tackles, and six tackles for a loss – all good for third on the team.

Richardson is excited for his upcoming senior year.

“What I’m definitely most excited for is playing with my new teammates,” Richardson said. “I can’t wait to share the field with them, as well as my former teammates. Each player brings something different to the field.”

Aside from his senior year, Richardson is motivated to play even better because West Boca proved a lot of people wrong last season.

“I definitely can’t wait to prove more people wrong and show out my last high school season,” Richardson said.

When asked about what he has been focusing on this offseason to improve his game, Richardson said: “I’ve been focusing more on my press coverage and speed mostly and just training a lot.”

Jesse’s hard work points towards a breakout season. When asked about his expectations, Richardson said: “My expectations for this season are definitely to make the playoffs as a team and individually get around 45+ tackles and 5-6 interceptions.”

Richardson is already off to an amazing start this summer, attending camp after camp, including St. Thomas University, FAU, FIU, and others.

While at FAU’s 7-on-7 tournament, Richardson impressed a ton of high school and college coaches, recording two game-winning interceptions and multiple passes defended.

Richardson will have a chance to grab the attention of more scouts next week (June 25), when he travels to Miami for another 7-on-7 tournament with West Boca. He already helped his team reach the UCF 7-on-7 title game against Vero Beach yesterday (June 21).
