The University of Miami is rolling on the recruiting trail this spring, as the Hurricanes hosted two high-level prospects on campus.

On the same day the Hurricanes landed defensive back Sherrod Gourdine and defensive lineman Josh Johnson, Miami had coveted 2027 prospects Zion Vilma and Zaquan Linton on campus for spring practice.

Vilma, the cousin of Miami legend Jonathan Vilma, has offers from Georgia, Rutgers, and Florida State, among others. He posted on social media following the visit, saying he “can’t wait to be back.”

Asked about what he enjoyed the most about his visit, Vilma highlighted the “standard” the team is held to.

“Every rep matters, every detail matters, and you can see why they compete at a high level. The tempo at practice was high, the players were locked in, and it felt like a real competitive environment the whole time… That’s exactly what I’m looking for. I want to be pushed every day, and I want to be in a place where everybody is competing to get better.”

The 2027 ATH also spoke about meeting with coaches, saying that he built further relationships and that they kept it “real” about “how I fit and what they expect.” On the topic of additional visits and a potential commitment, Vilma does not seem to be in a rush.

“I’m definitely planning to get out to a few more schools this spring. I’m still working on setting those up right now. I’m not rushing anything. I’m just taking my time, building relationships, and making sure I find the best fit for me.”

Linton, a member of the 2027 class at offensive line who committed in June of 2025, spoke about his visit to the Hurricanes’ practice.

“My biggest takeaway was the level of intensity and sense of urgency that the offensive line group moves with. I feel like being a physical program is important to championship teams; it sets a different standard and brings the best out of you, and that’s something I look forward to.”

Linton touched on his interactions with the coaching staff, saying that he spoke with Coach Alex Mirabal about ” all of the important things I need to work on to dominate as an incoming freshman.” Additionally, Linton said he is not planning any other visits at this time.

Already ranked 8th in the country for their 2027 class, the Hurricanes are constantly seeking to add new talent to a program that is continuing to rise. Plenty of visits are on the horizon, including from some of the top-ranked overall players in the class.

It will be fascinating to see how things progress for “The U” over the coming days and months, but one thing is for certain: players are very excited to be around the Miami Hurricanes’ football program. As long as things keep moving forward, verbal commits like Linton and top prospects like Vilma will continue to have great things to say and choose to play for the school.
