BOCA RATON- Boca Raton quarterback Chance Routson (’26) is the New Era Prep MVP of Week 8!
Routson was voted as MVP by 32 percent of our viewers. For those that do not know, you can find all of our weekly superlatives on the New Era Prep Twitter account!
This week’s MVP race was paper thin, with a close race between Routson, Palm Beach Central QB, Caleb Butler, and Atlantic QB, Lincoln Graf. In the last hour of voting, Routson pulled ahead. When asked about winning this weeks MVP, Chance said:
“Being voted MVP means a lot especially in a game with that much intensity and such a chip on our shoulder.” Routson said. “I couldn’t do any of it without my big guys up front…(RB) Ryan platten for pounding the rock all game, (TE) Vincent Ruggeri for putting his head down and taking the hits, and lastly our defense for having our back all game and coming up when we needed them. Thank you to everyone who voted for me this week, you are truly appreciated.”
This season, Boca Raton has become the most underrated team in the county. The 5-2 Bobcats took control of a tight FHSAA Class 4M District 11 after going back to back with district wins over Spanish River (16-7) and Santaluces (24-21).
When asked about the Bobcats’ district dominance, Chance said:
“Winning districts has been a goal of ours since I walked in the doors as a freshman… something our school hasn’t done in 23 years.” Routson said. “Being able to be a part of school history is an amazing feat. We had all the fight in the world to go in there head down and come out on top. I wasn’t too happy with my performance, but it’s all about bouncing back from adversity, playing your roll, and doing what the team needs you to do to win.”
Despite being a sophomore, Chance Routson is in the tier of Palm Beach County’s elite QBs. Standing in at 6 foot 2, Routson pairs his natural size and strength, with precise ball accuracy to make him a threat defenses have to game plan against. Chance has a strong arm, and is able to air it out for deep strikes. When the pocket starts to collapse, Routson isn’t afraid to use his legs and scramble for big gains.
When you truly break down Chance Routson’s film, you can see big pieces of Josh Allen in his game.
Congratulations to Chance Routson for winning our Week 8 MVP! Chance and the Boca High Bobcats will host Cardinal Gibbons on Friday, October 20. Kickoff is slated for 6:30 P.M.
