DEERFIELD BEACH – The Boca Raton Lady Bobcats took care of business this past Friday night (Feb. 3) against the Park Vista Lady Cobras.

Park Vista point guard Zoe Lester came out strong by connecting with forward Saniya Frazier early in the game.

Frazier dominated the paint with nine points in the first quarter.

The Lady Bobcats went toe-to-toe with their own scoring, overpowering the Lady Cobras run.

The Lady Bobcats were able to go into halftime with a two-point lead, 26-24.

Something sparked for Boca as it came out in the third quarter blazing hot.

Freshman Tatyana Pinkney came in hot scoring 10 points early in the third. This started what will be the Lady Bobcats biggest run of the game.

Guard Vanessa Moore talked about the message coming back into the second half.

“We knew we had to keep our composure and not let their streaks get to us,” expressed Moore, who contributed big time by scoring 20 points in this game.

The fourth quarter was all about guard Courtney Lowe.

Steals from the Lady Bobcats defense ended in easy points for the offense.

Lowe ended with a 16-point game, with six of those coming in the last minutes of the game.

“We had to come out fast to build on our runs,” Lowe explained.

The Lady Bobcats 23-point lead clinched the 7A-District 13 championship for them.

Second-year head coach Rodric Johnson is beyond proud of the prgress from last year. He talked about the tactics before the district championship.

“In practice, I reminded them how it felt to lose to Coral Springs in the second round of districts,” Johnson explained. “We will go and handle business and still have fun.

The Lady Bobcats are now 20-7 heading into the next round.

Their next opponent will be announced this afternoon (Feb. 5; 2 p.m.) after the FHSAA State playoff brackets are out.

Johnson and the Lady Bobcats are already back to practicing and getting ready for whoever is next.

Until then, Johnson wants to stay on the course by focusing on who the Lady Bobcats are as a team and getting ready for Thursday, Feb. 9, which is when the FHSAA regional quarterfinals will take place.
