Adebayo delivers the second-highest scoring game in NBA history, carrying Heat past Wizards 150-129

The NBA world witnessed history on Tuesday night when Bam Adebayo put together one of the greatest scoring performances we have ever seen.

Adebayo went off for 83 points in Miami’s 150-129 win over the Washington Wizards, smashing LeBron James former Heat record for most points in a game (61), and recording the second-highest scoring game in NBA history, cementing himself in NBA history forever.

From the opening tip to the final buzzer, it was all Bam in Biscayne Bay tonight. The Heat captain went nuclear in the 1st quarter with 31 points, finishing with 43 total in the first half, and finished the 3rd quarter with 62 before closing out his career night in the 4th quarter.

Adebayo shot 20/43 from the field tonight (7/22 3PT) and broke an NBA record for BOTH free-throws made and free-throws attempted in a game, finishing 36/43 from the free throw stripe and drawing fouls in the second half after Washington began to consistently triple-team against him.

By the end of the game, it was complete video game numbers for Bam, as he would top-off his historic night with 83 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks.

The Heat offense in general tonight poured it on Washington with Adebayo leading the way as Miami would win their 6th straight game to improve to 37-29 on the season, with the Heat remaining in 6th place in the Eastern Conference with 16 games to go in the regular season.

But looking past the win, the night will forever be remembered as the night Bam put himself in the record books, passing the late great Kobe Bryant’s 81-point performance back in 2006.

“He would probably tell me do it again,” Adebayo said after the game on SportsCenter when asked what he thought [Kobe] would have said about the performance.

The moment with Adebayo’s mother and partner A’ja Wilson in attendance, watching from the crowd as the 3x All-Star put on the performance of a lifetime was special. Known throughout most of his career for his leadership and elite defensive play, Bam tonight showed the entire world a performance that no one could have imagined that quickly turned unforgettable.

With the Kaseya Center crowd rising to its feet in the late 4th quarter, Heat fans and teammates realized they were witnessing history.

Bam Adebayo. 83 points. NBA History.

For the Miami Heat and Bam, it was a performance that will be talked about for years to come.
