TREASURE COAST – After four regular season games played, we are starting to see clearly which teams represent the class of the Treasure Coast area.

As with any other week, we look at a few factors in ranking our area’s programs. So with that said, here are the top three determinants on how the Top 10 turned out this week – in order:

•Strength of overall team
•Strength of schedule
•Wins and losses

A fourth determinant serves as a key to how far a team will drop – if it loses a game in a blowout:

•Margin of loss

In consultation with a host of coaches from the entire Treasure Coast area, we have decided on the Top 10 will look like this week.

After reading the entire Top 10 for yourself, read on for all the details of how we assembled this particular team ranking iteration.

1. Vero Beach (4-0) [Previous Rank: 1]
2. John Carroll (3-0) [Previous Rank: 2]
3. Jensen Beach (3-0) [Previous Rank: 5]
4. Centennial (2-1) [Previous Rank: 4]
5. Treasure Coast (1-3) [Previous Rank: 7]
6. Martin County (3-1) Previous Rank: 3]
7. Fort Pierce Westwood [Previous Rank: 6]
8. South Fork (1-3) [Previous Rank: 8]
9. Sebastian River (2-1) [Previous Rank: 9]
10. Fort Pierce Central (1-2) [Previous Rank: 10]

Others: Port St. Lucie (2-1), St. Edward’s (2-1), Okeechobee (1-3), Tradition Prep (0-1)

HONEST IMPRESSIONS

•Centennial, Sebastian River, and Fort Pierce Central will stay in their places because their games either got cancelled or they did not finish their games due to lightning.

•Despite its 35-3 loss to John Carroll, South Fork will not drop at all because it is the only Treasure Coast team to have already played the top two teams in the area.

•Fort Pierce Westwood, South Fork, and Sebastian River will be ranked at 7-8-9 respectively due to their head-to head matchups that have already been played and decided.

•Martin County will drop three spots and Treasure Coast will move up two spots because Treasure Coast won the head-to-head matchup in Week 4 by a score of 28-7.

•The biggest Week 4 winner is Jensen Beach because of its 4-0 start and third straight quality win in as many weeks. Jensen Beach rallied to beat Stoneman Douglas at home in Week 4 by a score of 33-30.

•Vero Beach and John Carroll stay at 1-2 because they are the two best teams right now.

PLEASE NOTE: We will consult with coaches from the majority of our 14 Treasure Coast teams before each weekly Top 10 list is released. This ensures that the best possible order is published and all 14 teams are fairly represented.
