TREASURE COAST – After 10 regular season weeks played, we are seeing the best teams unfold right before our eyes in the Treasure Coast.

As with any other week, we look at a few factors in ranking our area’s programs. So with that said, here are the top three determinants on how the Top 10 turned out this week – in order:

•Strength of overall team

•Strength of schedule

•Wins and losses

A fourth determinant serves as a key to how far a team will drop – if it loses a game in a blowout:

•Margin of loss

In consultation with a host of coaches from the entire Treasure Coast area, we have decided on the Top 10 will look like this week.

After reading the entire Top 10 for yourself, read on for all the details of how we assembled this particular team ranking iteration.

Treasure Coast Top 10 – Week 10

HONEST IMPRESSION: VERO BEACH

Let us give a major shout out to Vero Beach for its 10-7 comeback win at home over Treasure Coast in Week 10.

This heavyweight battle lived up to its hype, albeit in a different way.

So with that, it was only right to simply swap both teams from the No. 1 and No. 4 ranking positions.

Both teams are No. 1-worthy in their own respective right. But only one could be the District 12-4S champion, and it was Vero Beach at the end of the day.

This was an awesome way for Vero Beach (9-1; 3-1 in District 12-4S play) to close out its memorable season at No. 1.

So let us specially congratulate Vero Beach for starting and ending the regular season as the Treasure Coast area’s undisputed No. 1 team.

It is very much deserved and it has been well-earned. Salute to the Vero Beach Indians.

HONEST IMPRESSION: DISTRICT CHAMPIONS

This week’s top three teams have been crowned as district champions in their own right.

Here is the list below:

•Vero Beach: District 12-4S champion

•John Carrol: District 6-1S champion

•Jensen Beach: District 12-3S champion

Congratulations to Vero Beach (again), John Carroll, and Jensen Beach for their big honors.

HONEST IMPRESSION: TREASURE COAST

Our fourth-ranked team will end its regular season with a tough matchup on the road at national powerhouse Chaminade-Madonna (8-0) tomorrow night (Nov. 3; 6 p.m. kickoff) in Hollywood.

For a team that has a 3-5 record, it will be quite interesting to see how Treasure Coast’s playoffs hopes shake out in Class 4S.

We have nothing more to say about Treasure Coast for now.

HONEST IMPRESSION: REMAINING TOP 10 TEAMS

Let us start with fifth-ranked Martin County.

Led by Rod Harris, the Tigers have won three straight games. Last week’s 51-12 road win over then-No. 8/now-No. 9 Fort Pierce Central (2-7; 0-4 in District 12-4S play) meant that this team is serious about possibly making a deep Class 4S playoff run.

Martin County (7-2; 2-2 in 12-4S) has one more regular season game left. It will be tomorrow night (Nov. 3; 7 p.m.) on the road at third-ranked Jensen Beach (8-1; 2-0 in 12-3S).

We are looking for the Martin County-Jensen Beach game to be a close one from start to finish.

Meanwhile, sixth-ranked Centennial (5-4; 2-2 in 12-4S) and seventh-ranked Port St. Lucie (5-3; 1-1 in 12-3S) are in playoff positioning mode in Class 4S and Class 3S, respectively.

These two Port St. Lucie-based teams will be playing against each other in Week 11. We are expecting a close one throughout the Nov. 4 game, which will kick off at 7 p.m.

Our next-biggest riser this week after Vero Beach is Sebastian River, which prevailed in a 28-20 road win over American Collegiate Academy (2-5) this past Thursday (Oct. 27).

Moving up from No. 10 to No. 8, Sebastian River will end its season on Friday, Nov. 4 (7 p.m. kickoff) at Palm Bay (6-3).

And bringing up the rear this are Fort Pierce Central (Week 11 game vs. Sebring; season finale at home on Friday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m.) and then-No. 9/now-No. 10 Fort Pierce Westwood (5-4; 1-1 in District 11-3S play).

Westwood, which is on a three-game losing streak right now, will end its regular season tomorrow night (Nov. 3; 6:30 p.m.) at Boca Raton (5-4). A Class 3S playoff is possible with a Week 11 win for head coach Chris Kokell and his program.
