Berean Christian looks to make significant progress this season

WEST PALM BEACH – If one gets a chance to check out the Berean Christian Bulldogs, at least a couple of things will come to mind.

They will play together in every kind of situation. They are united by a higher authority, and it shows on the field.

With head coach Mario Jackson leading the team, this collective is great at focusing on the bigger picture. They all use football as not just a way of life, but also an opportunity to serve each other in more ways than one.

Greatness lies within this team, regardless of their record and how others perceive them to be.

“Your input determines your output,” Jackson said. “Our young men embody the same mentality.”

To make sure this air of positive thinking permeates within the program, Jackson has selected his top five players for Berean Christian. They are his best players, but more than anything, they are wholly reliable and trustworthy young men on and off the field.

Here is Jackson’s top five list – in alphabetical order:

•CB/WR Tyler Christian (2020)
•OL/DL Daniel Fellows (2021)
•QB Wade Gill (2020)
•WR/LB Caleb Goertzen (2020)
•RB/LB David Rimes (2020)

“These five were chosen because they understand how being committed and determined are the keys to success on the field and off,” Jackson said. “They all come in the film session and the weight room early, and they are usually the last ones to leave. The respect they have from their peers were earned by doing the little things right. Their performance on the field is in direct correlation to amount they have put in. All of them have the blue collar worker mentality!”

All five of the aforementioned players earned All-Conference honors for the past two seasons, according to Jackson. And to take it a step further, Rimes and Fellows earned All-Area honors this past year.

To top it off, Goertzen has been chosen as a Semper Fidelis All-American, according to Jackson.

Berean Christian may have finished last season with a 1-7 record. But this team aims to have more wins than losses in 2019.
