BOCA RATON, Fla. – For the first time since 2008, the FAU Owls will play football in the month of December.

Head coach Lane Kiffin and the Owls gear up to face North Texas this Saturday (Dec. 2) in the Conference USA Championship Game. This will be the second time these two teams went head to head this year.

The first matchup was one in which FAU racked up 69 points on the scoreboard, giving North Texas its third loss of the season. After losing 69-31 to the Owls on Saturday, Oct. 21, the Mean Green (7-1 in C-USA; 9-3 overall) has not lost since.

FAU (8-0 in C-USA; 9-3 overall) is aware that it can not take North Texas lightly. Safety Jalen Young explains that the last game doesn’t mean anything.

“We know they’re going to come here and bring their best game,” Young stated. “But our goal is just to be 1-0, one game at a time.”

Both teams have grown since the first matchup. With the Conference USA championship on the line, it’s a ‘go hard or go home’ type of game.

Running back Devin ‘Motor’ Singletary broke a record against North Texas earlier this year, scoring his 14th touchdown of the season. He is determined to get the job done.

“It will mean a lot to get that championship ring and bring it to Boca Raton and FAU,” Singletary stated. “That’s everything we’ve been working for.”

The Conference USA Championship game kicks off tomorrow (12 p.m.) at FAU Stadium in Boca Raton.
