WEST PALM BEACH – Outside of Berean Christian, few people may have heard of Jahir Antoine.

That’s perfectly fine with him.

The Bulldogs senior linebacker may not have been the focal point of his team’s improved defense. But as he looks back on this past season, it turned out to be a decent one overall.

Antoine (5-foot-10, 190 pounds) finished his senior campaign with 18 tackles (4 TFL) and two forced fumbles. Also playing some at the running back position, he had 63 all-purpose yards in eight games played.

Antoine’s best moment came in the kickoff class against Village Academy, when he caused a late fumble that teammate Caleb Goertzen scooped up for a score to secure the 32-20 road win.

As a result of his accomplishments, Antoine could be on the verge of receiving his first offer from Bethel University. He took a visit to the school at the Division III school in Minnesota this past weekend.

“I had a blast,” Antoine said. “The coaching staff is phenomenal. It’s a very beautiful campus and friendly environment.”

Berean Christian head coach Mario Jackson was happy with the strides Antoine made throughout his senior season, which led to the college visit and possibly more in the near future.

“Jahir has always been a hard worker,” Jackson said. “He had a tough transition from corner to outside linebacker. Nevertheless, Jahir worked hard to learn his assignments and run fits. It’s not always easy to change positions late in your high school career, but he stepped up to the challenge and made the most of his opportunity. More importantly, this transition shows how coachable and selfless Jahir is.”

Antoine gave gratitude to Jackson for believing in him.

“He’s the best coach I ever had,” Antoine said. “He knows the game of football and he uses that to his advantage. He really takes good care of his players.”

What will Antoine miss the most about his time at Berean Christian?

“I wish I had one more game with my boys,” Antoine said. “I miss going to battle with them. I made some good friends on that team.”

We’ll be looking forward to see where Antoine lands as his college of choice. Stay tuned for further updates on his next destination.
