The essence of those words – the exact phrasing of it is highlighted in the picture image above – came straight from Trojans offensive coordinator Tumarian Moreland, who has played an instrumental role in this team’s resurgence.
Lake Worth is currently in the process of overcoming a defeatist mentality and a perceived losing culture.
Just in the past three seasons alone (2016-2018), the Class 8A team has had a record of 5-24. So if you’re currently on the Trojans coaching staff, you knew what needed to happen in order to promote positive change.
Current Lake Worth head coach Donald Hanna is a culture builder. If you get to know him, you’ll see that two words mean everything to him: ‘loyalty’ and ‘brotherhood’.
These aspects have stood out in Lake Worth’s early rise, as evidenced by its season-opening 44-7 road win over Olympic Heights.
“The team’s overall focus is there,” Hanna said. “We’ve become a much more detail oriented program in all the phases of the game, which is a direct reflection of my offensive and defensive coordinators, Coach T-Mo [Tumarian Moreland] and Coach Rob.”
Senior running back Del Louidor, who registered two touchdowns on the ground last week against Olympic Heights, is looking forward to prove his team’s doubters wrong from this point forward.
“We feel as if Palm Beach County is just doubting us because of our losing record last year and the year before that,” Louidor said. “When someone says Lake Worth, they think of a loser. We are going to change that.”
How will that actually happen?
“We change it by getting wins and making a statement on Thursday nights or Friday nights,” Louidor said.
The Week 1 win over Olympic Heights was a huge confidence booster for Lake Worth (1-0). But the home opener in Week 2 against No. 9 Jupiter (1-0) will likely have even bigger ramifications, regardless of how the game turns out.
“Everyone needs to be locked in and do their assignments,” Lake Worth senior defensive end Adly Saint Juste said. “We need to get this win against Jupiter.”
The Lake Worth-Jupiter tilt will occur tomorrow night (Thursday, Aug. 29) at Lake Worth High School, with a kickoff time set for 6:30 p.m.
