BOCA RATON – The Florida Atlantic Owls are set to face conference foe Old Dominion this weekend in hopes of getting back to their winning ways.

The Owls (2-3) are coming off a heartbreaking 25-24 loss to Middle Tennessee State in the final moments of last weekend’s game.

Junior running back Devin Singletary was the lone star in the matchup, finishing with 34 carries for 118 yards and two touchdowns.

Singletary gave the Owls a 14-0 first quarter lead with his two scores, and the Owls led all the way until the last crucial moments of the game.

Owls quarterback Chris Robinson added a score with his legs on a 45-yard touchdown, which is a season long for him. Robinson finished the contest 17-27 for 154 yards and one interception; 9 carries for 59 yards and one touchdown.

Robinson’s rushing score raised the lead to 21-3 for Florida Atlantic, but the Blue Raiders fought back relentlessly.

Late in the fourth with only 40 seconds on the clock, Middle Tennessee’s Tavares Thomas plunged his way into the end zone to bring the Blue Raiders within one. The Blue Raiders scored on a two-point conversion on the very next play to take the lead and eventually march on to seal the deal.

Meanwhile, Old Dominion is coming off a close game that ended in a loss against East Carolina. The Monarchs did all they could but fell short 37-35 to the Pirates.

The Monarchs are now 1-4, and they are hoping to turn things around as well. Their only win comes from the nation’s biggest upset last month against then-No. 13 Virginia Tech.

The Florida Atlantic Owls will face the Monarchs of Old Dominion on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 5 p.m. in Boca Raton.
