WEST PALM BEACH – In Week 8 of the high school football season, we have a huge matchup between No. 4 Forest Hill and No. 2 Dwyer.

Forest Hill (6-0) has been solid through the first six games and captured two district wins in the process. The Falcons have won three games at home and three games on the road thus far.

The Falcons defense is allowing an average of 11.3 points per game, while their offense is averaging 38.3 points per game.

This will be the Falcons third district game of the season. It’s probably their biggest one as they take on No. 2 Dwyer (6-1), a team that’s been completely dominant since its Week 2 loss to No. 1 Atlantic.

Dwyer’s offense has averaged 48.2 points in its last five games, while the defense has only allowed an average of 8.2 points in the last five games.

The Panthers offense is stout with Ronald Folkes and Daquan Thomas anchoring the offensive line. They also have quarterback Gio Richardson.

Enough said on that.

The speedy James Davis, along with speed-to-power running backs James Meeks, Robert Armes, and Reggie Gadson, have all played a role in Dwyer’s offensive success this season.

Dwyer may have the edge in this game primarily because its defense has been superb this season, excluding the team’s 30-13 loss to Atlantic.

The addition of defensive back Antavious Lane has been a plus for the Panthers, along with the big-play capability and thunderous hits on defense from the likes of front seven stalwarts Vernon Padgett, Ishmael Goulbourne, Ju-Ju Rincon, and Dan Foster Jr.

Forest Hill has firepower on offense as well.

Standout athlete Darius McClendon has been absolute money for the Falcons. In McClendon’s last game he tallied 253 yards, along with one passing touchdown and one rushing touchdown in a victory over Jupiter.

The Falcons has a lot of two-way players that fuel the offensive firepower and defensive charge. Bry’yon Jones is always a threat from anywhere on field, and he has that rare combination of speed and power.

Players to watch for Forest Hill: Adrian Moncrieffe, Jalen Jeter, Tyrell Coleman, Jamarri Brown, Deshonn Sirmans, Anthony Horne Jr., Tracyn Young, Chaz Eaton, and Euvonski Cunningham.

This is our Game of the Week for Palm Beach County, as Dwyer is on a five-game winning streak and Forest Hill is undefeated ahead of the Friday night district showdown.

The game will be held at Dwyer, with the kickoff time set for 6 p.m.
