PALM BEACH COUNTY – We have finally reached postseason territory for our area’s public schools.

It is quite refreshing to be in this position right now, considering the fact the School District of Palm Beach County decided earlier this fall that all of our public schools would opt out of this year’s FHSAA postseason series.

For what it is worth, the four-game regular season with our Palm Beach County teams has been a rousing success. Everyone felt safe and secure at the Boca Raton High School, Jupiter High School, and Wellington High School sites, which had games on Friday nights and Saturdays from Oct. 30 to Nov. 21.

With that said, the best public school teams emerged in crystal clear fashion, and all 14 of them will get to play at least one more game this season.

Week 1 of the Tri-County playoffs will be held Friday-Saturday, Dec. 4-5 at a variety of home sites in Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade counties. The teams have been split up into six different playoff bracket categories, which consist of the following:

8A GOLD – No. 4 Jupiter (4-0), No. 5 Park Vista (3-1)

8A SILVER – No. 7 Palm Beach Gardens (2-2), No. 8 Boca Raton (3-1), No. 10 Wellington (2-2)

7A GOLD – No. 2 Dwyer (4-0), No. 3 Atlantic (2-1), No. 9 Seminole Ridge (1-1),

7A SILVER – Royal Palm Beach (1-3), Olympic Heights (1-2)

6A-1A GOLD – No. 1 Glades Central (4-0), No. 6 Pahokee (2-2)

6A-1A SILVER – Boynton Beach (3-1), Suncoast (2-2)
