The 2025 NFL Draft is finally upon us. This weekend, 257 lives will be changed forever. Dreams have been lived out.

With that being said- I have some strong opinions on the way night one went, so let’s discuss!

Jacksonville Jaguars + Travis Hunter: Winners

Welcome back to Florida Travis Hunter. The Cleveland Browns traded the No. 2, a fourth-round pick and a sixth-round pick to Jacksonville for No. 5, a second-round pick, a fourth-round pick and a 2026 first in order to secure Colorado’s two way star.

My biggest win is for the Jags, who locked down a dynamic playmaker on both sides of the ball. Offensively, Hunter paired with Brian Thomas Jr. is Trevor Lawrence’s dream come true. Lawrence finally has the elite offensive weapons to make the jump into superstardom. Defensively, the addition of Travis Hunter helps bolster Jacksonville’s young DB room of Jarrian Jones and Tyson Campbell.

Personally for Hunter, there’s multiple wins. I’ll call out the obvious one- he doesn’t have to play for the Browns. Secondarily, I believe the Jaguars are a team that will accommodate his request to play both sides, and game plan ways to get the most out of his potential.

Shedeur Sanders: LOSER

This is an absolutely terrible look on the Sanders family.

Throughout the pre-Draft process, there were a lot of concerns about Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders, and his translation to the NFL. As the process came winding down into the past two weeks, rumors started circulating that teams were planning on avoiding him like the Plague on night one.

Sanders reportedly interviewed terribly throughout the process, which turned teams off from him. Apparently, GM’s and scouts didn’t particularly like Shedeur’s pompous antics and attitude. To make matters even worse, the Sanders family hosted a large VIP Draft party last night- just for Shedeur to fall out of round one. As the night progressed, the vibe was just terrible, and twitter had a field day.

Remember kids- live with humility.

New York Giants: Winner

The Giants might’ve secured the win in this years Draft on night one.

With the 3rd overall pick the New York football Giants selected Penn State’s Abdul Carter. The addition of Carter further fortifies the Giants front seven, that now features the likes of Brian Burns, Dexter Lawrence, Kayvon Thibodeaux and Abdul Carter.

That wasn’t all for the G-Men, as New York traded back into the first round to select Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart at No. 25. The Giants traded the No. 34, No. 99, and a 2026 third-round pick to the Houston Texans to make the selection. New York seemingly locked down their QB of the future, because surprise surprise, that won’t be Russell Wilson or Jameis Winston.

With that being said- having a deep vet QB room will play into Dart’s favor, as he has the opportunity to sit, learn and develop from legendary passers, rather than being thrown into the fire.

Chicago Bears: Loser

The Ben Johnson era of Bears football is not off to a hot start.

I’m personally a firm believer- don’t draft a tight end inside the top ten. But if you do it, at least take the best one available. The Chicago Bears selected Michigan TE Colston Loveland at No. 10 overall. While I do think Loveland is a solid prospect in this class, taking him 10th overall when Penn State’s Tyler Warren is still on the board is certainly a choice.

More importantly, the Bears have so many gaps to fill defensively or on their offensive line, this pick just continues to make me scratch my head.

Baltimore Ravens: Winner

The Ravens coming away with the steal of the first round, a tale as old as time. As the night progressed, I got more and more confident that Baltimore would come away with Georgia Safety Malaki Starks. Starks has been highly regarded as the top safety in this class, and one of the most surefire NFL ready talents since his true freshman season.

Baltimore continues to improve their secondary, adding a dynamic playmaker like Starks to a core that already includes CBs Marlon Humphrey and Nate Wiggins, while joining Kyle Hamilton over top.
