Dade County renames Traz Powell Stadium to “Adidas Field at Traz Powell Stadium” in a landmark deal, marking a new era for Miami’s high school football mecca.

Miami, FL – In a major branding partnership announced this week, Dade County has entered into a large-scale agreement with Adidas. Part of this deal officially renames the historic Traz Powell Stadium to “Adidas Field at Traz Powell Stadium.” The deal marks a significant collaboration between the global sportswear giant and South Florida’s High School Football Mecca. This deal brings new resources, visibility, and support to one of the state’s most iconic venues.

Below is a picture of the new-look turf, painted by Starting Lineup, one of the premier program branding organizations in the state of Florida. It features an ‘Adidas’ Logo at midfield as well as ‘Adidas Field’ Writing on both sides of the field. The endzones still feature ‘Traz’ and ‘Powell’ on respective sides of the field. In addition, Adidas branding is also featured throughout.

The iconic stadium was named after Nathanial Traz Powell in 1988. He was a beloved coach, teacher, and mentor in South Florida, as well as the first Black player to score a touchdown in the Orange Bowl.

Over the decades, Traz Powell Stadium has hosted countless South Florida legends.  Amari Cooper & Teddy Bridgewater (Northwestern), Dalvin Cook (Central), and Antonio Brown (Norland) are just a select few of those who took the turf.

I spoke to Jesse Garcia Jr. from Starting Lineup regarding his brand’s involvement in a project of this magnitude.

“Honestly, it’s an honor. Traz Powell isn’t just any stadium — it’s The Mecca of high school football in South Florida. When you think about the legacy, the rivalries, and the number of athletes who’ve played on that field and gone on to do big things — being trusted to brand it with the Adidas name is huge. We don’t take that lightly,” said Jesse.

Reflecting on the day’s work, Jesse described the atmosphere among the crew. “Our whole team showed up with a sense of pride and responsibility,” he said, “It’s the kind of job that reminds you why you do what you do.”

After seeing that level of passion on this project, I wanted to know how it compared to other major jobs they’ve tackled. “This was definitely one of the most high-profile projects we’ve taken on,” Jesse stated. He went on to explain why this one was different: “We’ve done full facility branding, major college fields, and complex logo installations, but this one was different because of the visibility, the brand involved, and the weight of the venue itself. It was a chance to not only showcase our skills but also represent something bigger. It’s a landmark project for us and a statement about where Starting Lineup is headed.”

As for the Starting Lineup brand, Jesse simply stated, “We’re going bigger than ever. You’ll see more bold logo applications, new field layouts, and elevated branding across Florida. We have a lot of firsts, bigger projects locked in, that will soon be revealed this fall.”

He also shared how the company is finding ways to innovate and help their clients: “We’re also partnering with schools to offset costs through sponsor logos, so more programs can get premium field designs without stretching their budgets.” This approach creates a win-win scenario where sponsors gain visibility and schools benefit from professional-quality field designs.

On top of that, Jesse teased new content for the season, including behind-the-scenes footage, project reveals, and a mini docuseries to give people a front-row seat to see what it takes to get a field Game Day Ready.

For years to come, future South Florida football legends will ball under the lights of Traz. Now, on Adidas Field
