The Cardinal Newman Crusaders touched the gridiron at Traz Powell Stadium Thursday night Oct 2nd, and made their presence felt before the game ended due to lightning.

Right out the gate the Crusaders quickly set the tone in the first quarter, scoring an early touchdown to make it 7-0.

The second quarter saw even more action, as Cardinal Newman Running back Pheonix Donghia bulldozed his way for a touchdown to get the ball rolling.

Eight minutes into quarter two, Quarterback Jyron Hughley found an open Ethan Holland for a touchdown, making the game 21-0.

As the second quarter was coming to a close, Goleman managed to respond with a touchdown of their own thanks to their Quarterback Timothy Potts seeing Wide Receiver Damian Gonzalez but Newman quickly answered with a QB rush touchdown from Jyron Hughley just before halftime, bringing the score to 28-7.

As the second half was about to be underway, lightning struck, forcing the game to be halted.

Fans had no choice but to take shelter, pondering  if Goleman would have mounted a comeback or if the Crusaders would have continued their dominant performance.
