Following the departure of former Athletic Director Brian White, Florida Atlantic and its President, Adam Hasner, have been searching extensively for the school’s next AD for over a month now.

It looks like that far-and-wide search has now come to its conclusion, with the Owls having found the next person for the job from Starkville, Mississippi.

Josh McCowan (not McCown) has spent the last three years as the Deputy Athletic Director and Chief Revenue Officer at Mississippi State, following a six-year tenure at Kansas State as the Wildcats’ Senior Associate AD, as well as spending time at Colorado.

McCowan is known for his ability to raise funds for the programs he has been a part of, including leading the Ahearn Fund, the national fundraising arm at Kansas State. He was also known for leading the school’s development and fundraising operations, which included campaign oversight, annual funds, premium seating, and more.

For the Bulldogs, he specifically oversaw the school’s Men’s Basketball program, something that could bode very well for FAU, whose men’s hoops program has skyrocketed this decade.

Following former AD Brian White’s departure for Virginia Tech, FAU needed to find the right replacement for him, with someone who knows where the current landscape of college sports is heading and is smart and innovative when it comes to the money side of things.

It appears the Owls have found just that as Josh McCowan will look to build off the elevation and innovation from Brian White and keep Florida Atlantic trending in the right direction in the ever-changing landscape of college athletics.
