The Shula Bowl trophy is back in Boca as FAU defeated FIU last night by a final score of 16-10

This rivalry game was a very gritty and defensive one as there was no room for error in down the stretch.

The first quarter was promising for the Owls as their defense came up big with three interceptions on FIU’s first 3 drives.

Leonard Farrow was able to find the end zone for the Owls at the end of the first for their only touchdown of the game.

Even with FIU’s turnovers in the 4th quarter, a JJ Kohl rushing touchdown at the end of the first half made it a 10-7 game at the break as FIU lingered.

The second half was a defensive show was FAU was able to knock through 2 field goals in the third quarter behind the leg of Collin
Rogers.

The Panthers drove down late and were able to knock in a field goal to make it a one possession game with 4:25 to go.

The next three minutes consisted of an FAU punt, FIU turnover on downs, followed by another FAU punt. With a little over 1 minute to go and 1 timeout FIU was able to make big plays that would eventually get them in the red zone with a few shots at the end zone to win it in which all fell incomplete.

After the clock hit zero the Owls’ sideline rushed to hoist the trophy and celebrate with the FAU faithful. The Shula Bowl trophy is officially BACK IN BOCA.

FIU (1-2) is set to host LIU next weekend

FAU (2-1) will travel to Louisiana-Monroe
