With the devastating leg injury that star receiver Tyreek Hill had in Mondays win over the Jets, the Miami Dolphins have now entered a new era. Over the offseason, questions loomed over the team wondering if the Dolphins do not have a successful season, could the team move on from Hill? Well, after 4 games, the Dolphins are 1-3 and are one loss away from their season being truly over and changes could be made at the end of the season and Tyreek Hill might be released or traded as well. If the Dolphins trade Tyreek after June 1st, the team will save $11.8 million dollars but there is a stipulation in Hills’ contract that if he is still on the roster after the 3rd league day of 2026, he gets a $5 million dollar bonus. Now is the time for the Dolphins to figure out what they need to do regarding Tyreek’s contract, and it could be time for the Tyreek era to come to an end.

When it comes to personnel, younger receivers now have the chance to step up and prove their talent for their future here in Miami. It was unfortunate to see Tyreek go out but there could be an upside seeing young players showcase their skills like Malik Washington, Nick Westbrook-Ikhine should have more reps, Tahj Washington, and Dee Eskridge. Yesterday, the Dolphins signed former Dolphin Cedric Wilson Jr from the Saints practice squad, a familiar face with the McDaniel offensive scheme. During his time with the team from 2022-2023, Wilson had 34 receptions, 432 receiving yards, and 3 touchdowns. His 6’2 197-pound frame can have him become a threat in the redzone along with Waller and Achane.

Since Tyreek joined the Dolphins in 2022, he has only missed 1 game and that was against the Jets in 2023 where the Dolphins won in a blowout game, 30-0. Tua went 21-24, 224 passing yards and a passing touchdown against a top 3 defense that year. The offense might look a little different without Tyreek Hill on the field, but having Waddle, Malik Washington, Achane and Waller, the offense should be just fine.

The next time we see the Dolphins take the field will be this Sunday at 1 P.M. at Bank of America Stadium in North Carolina against the 1-3 Panthers. The Panthers are coming off a humiliating loss against the Patriots where they lost 42-13 so it is perfect time for the offense to do what they did to the jets. Beginning in four days, will be the new era of Dolphin football.
