A Night of Excellence: The 2024 Groza Awards

The 33rd Annual Groza Award Celebration took place last night as Palm Beach County’s finest were recognized. The honors given were Kicker of the Year, Coach of the Year, Player of the Year, and Team of the year.

The night was kicked off by an impactful keynote address by former NFL coach and player Dave Shula.

Kicker of the Year – Jupiter’s Brogan Woeber. After setting the 561 record with a 59-yard field goal this season, Woeber was awarded the honors and gave thanks to his family, coaches, and teammates for helping him along the way.

Coach of the Year – Glades Central’s Omar Haugabook. “Coach O” delivered a powerful speech, expressing his appreciation to the Glades Central family as well as the community. Haugabook expressed that “The Rebuild” is bigger than football and is more about the community.

Player of the Year – Atlantic’s Teddy Hoffmann. What a past 10 days for “Touchdown” Teddy, from a 5 touchdown performance in the Regional Finals against St. Thomas Aquinas, to signing with NC State this past Friday, to now winning the Player of the Year tonight, adding to his long list of achievements.

Team of the Year – West Boca Raton. The Bulls continue a crazy week after defeating Southridge 14-11 on a miraculous last-second play. The undefeated squad will play in the 6A state championship on Friday, 12/13 vs Osceola at Pitbull Stadium on the campus of FIU.

Congrats to tonight’s winners and finalists, we will all be looking forward to seeing continued success in the future.
