Brennan King has been talked about quite a lot in the football industry. This 6-foot-3, 255 is no one to be played with. Being behind three seniors last year, he used the opportunity of when he would play to ball out.

Coming off the bench as a Sophomore, King had goals. He sure made those known. Only played a few games and with even fewer plays his sophomore stats are impressive.

•38 total tackles

•10 tackles for loss

•5 sacks

With these stats, he has gained offers from USF and UNC Charlotte. He has also gained many interests.

King’s best game last season was against Clewiston, Newman’s Week 5 road win, 42-7.

King has been working this off-season. He participated in the FAU/FSU Mega Camp, “I went 7-for-7 in the 1-on-1’s. The camp helped me get a feel of what a practice in the life of a college student athlete would feel like football wise. Fast tempo and intense.”

He is excited for his upcoming Junior season and has big goals for it. “For my individual goals, I’m aiming big,” King said. “I want 80 total tackles, 25 sacks, and 35 tackles for loss. For our team goal we need a state ring.”

Many Newman players want that ring and with the help of the coaches they are determined. King says “One thing about our coaches, they’re always going to keep it real, Highlights or lowlights, they always tell you what you need to hear.”

Next for Newman, they are staying in town to face Monsignor Pace for Week 1 at the Sam Bunyak Field at 7pm. Stay tuned for updates.
