Atlantic and Park Vista are up for a 8A rematch

Palm Beach County – The Atlantic eagles will host the Park Vista Cobras in a 8A rematch to see who advances to the next round of the playoffs.

The first time Atlantic and Park Vista faced off it was a low scoring affair as the eagles beat the cobras 10-3 back on September 22nd. This time around the stakes are much higher as both teams will be fighting for their playoff lives.

The Cobras are coming off of a huge win where they were a tremendous underdog and rightfully so as they faced off with a top seeded Miramar team that’s loaded with talent. According to Florida High School Football twitter voting polls (@FlaHSFootball) Park Vista was only given a 6% chance at winning against Miramar. Park Vista beat Miramar 28-20 to advance to the second round of the playoffs.

The Atlantic eagles went into their match up last Friday as an underdog also, they were only given a 35% chance at winning against Plantation according to Florida High School Football twitter voting polls. The eagles seem to be in trouble early on against Plantation but the eagles would prevail with a 29-14 victory over Plantation. Atlantic is known for its big play capability. The amount of talent that adorns this Atlantic football team is undeniable and you can never count them out, especially during the playoffs.

Park Vista has a lot of respect for Atlantic and that was evident throughout practice. The central focus for Park Vista seems to be worrying about their team and what they need to improve on, rather than worrying about the revenge factor of this rematch. During a Post practice joint interview with Park Vista Senior Free Safety/Wide Receiver Jake Collins and Senior Running Back/Linebacker Ivan Johnson they both seem poised for Friday nights match up against Atlantic. Collins stated “We have to come intense and tackle.” Johnson stated “We have to come with enthusiasm and ready to play.”

Park Vista’s Senior Strong Safety/Running back Camron Mann and Junior Running back/Linebacker Nick King, seem to be more mission oriented as both players expressed their need to run the ball hard all game during their post practice interview. King stated “Were going to keep practicing and running the ball hard.” Mann stated “Just know that we’re coming in for war.”

During Tuesday nights practice at Park Vista there was a emphasis put on the word “Finish” at the end of each play and drill. In a post practice interview with Park Vista’s Running back Coach Carlton Prescott he stated “When you play an opponent like Atlantic you have to finish every play. You have to go hard every single play, there’s no room to take a play off or be tired. You have to finish every single play when playing Atlantic”

This game will be a toss up as both teams are very familiar with one another and hungry to advance in the playoffs. The Cobras are currently holding a (10-3) record and the eagles hold a (9-1-1) record on the season according to FHSAA website. The eagles have home field advantage throughout the playoffs.
