DELRAY BEACH – Defensive back Jeremiah McClendon from has found his college home.
On July 24, the Atlantic (Delray Beach) High School incoming senior pledged his commitment to Western Kentucky.
“I would like to thank my parents and family for being there for me during this journey,” McClendon said on his latest Twitter post. I would [like] to say thank you for raising me into the man that I am today.”
McClendon, a 247Sports three-star recruit, is the third recruit in Western Kentucky’s 2021 recruiting class. He is ranked as the No. 171 overall player in the state by 247Sports.
In New Era Prep’s Top 50 for the Class of 2021, McClendon is ranked No. 6 overall and No. 1 among cornerbacks.
To date, McClendon has earned 10 offers total. And earlier in July, McClendon released his top four of Indiana, Georgia State, Florida Atlantic, and Western Kentucky.
“I narrowed it down because it’s about that time to see where I belong after high school,” McClendon told New Era Prep when he released his top four. “They are the schools that’s showing the most interest and love.”
In 2019, McClendon recorded 54 total tackles, 11 interceptions, eight pass breakups and three forced fumbles. McClendon’s success earned him All-State First Team Defensive honors in Class 7A.
“My junior season was good,” McClendon said. “I made some big time plays at big time moments. I wish it could have been better with us going to states, but things happen.”
