The Atlantic Eagles are flying high, storming out to a 4-0 start and outscoring opponents by a dominant margin of 166–46. Their explosive offense has drawn plenty of attention, but it’s their suffocating defense — which many argue ranks among the top 10 in South Florida — that has truly set the tone.
When asked earlier this week about the matchup he’s most eager to see, Atlantic head coach Jamelle Murray didn’t hesitate: his defensive line against Norland’s offensive line. Atlantic’s defensive front, regarded as one of the best in Palm Beach County, is developed and led under the steady guidance of defensive line coach Todney Evans.
But the Eagles’ toughest test yet arrives this Thursday, when the Miami Norland Vikings come to Delray.
Norland, off to a surprising 2-2 start — their worst opening in three years — still demands respect. The Vikings, just two seasons removed from a state finals appearance, remain one of South Florida’s premier programs. They enter with a chip on their shoulder after a 49-21 loss to Miami Northwestern and will be hungry to reassert themselves against Atlantic.
This matchup may not hold playoff implications, but it carries heavy weight in pride and bragging rights. Anytime Palm Beach County clashes with Miami-Dade, the intensity soars beyond the scoreboard.
So the stage is set: Can the undefeated Eagles protect their home turf and continue their rise, or will the battle-tested Vikings steal one on the road and spark a turnaround to their season?
