DELRAY BEACH, FL — Atlantic High’s defensive unit is locked in this spring, and at the center of that energy is senior defensive back Tyrelle Owens.
Owens has become a name to know in Palm Beach County. According to his coach, Pass Game Coordinator and DB Coach “Coach (Preston)P,” Owens has been developing this moment since day one.
“Tyrelle can play everywhere around the field,” Coach P said. “Nickel, safety, corner — he’s perfected all three over his four years here. He started as a freshman, and now it’s polished. That’s what separates him. He’s twitchy, athletic, and locked in.”

Owens says he’s working on everything, breaks, speed, strength, and leadership. Show by example in practice. “ I just show guys what to do,” he said. “I’ve been doing this for a while. It’s routine now.”
That polish doesn’t stop on the field. Coach P emphasized how much Owens has grown as a student of the game.

“He’s always asking questions. Hitting up the offensive coaches, wanting to understand why they’re running certain plays. He’s constantly learning — that’s what takes him to the next level.”

Bentley’s mindset is what college coaches need to know. “He’s a competitor. He wants to win every rep and holds himself accountable on every detail. That’s a guy who’s ready for the next level.”
When asked to describe his play in one word, Owens didn’t hesitate: “Like a lion.” With college coaches watching closely this spring, Owens has a clear message: “I’m a hard worker. I don’t back down from anybody.”
