Former Florida Gators defensive tackle Caleb Banks impressed at Lucas Oil Stadium today on
Day 1 of the NFL Combine.

At 6’6”, 327 pounds, Banks more attention before drills even began. His height, weight, hand
size, and arm length were all in the 89th percentile or better among defensive tackles. His
wingspan graded in the 99th percentile, the longest measured at the Combine for a defensive
tackle since 1999.

For Banks, today’s performance carried weight. A broken foot sidelined him for nine games of
his senior season. The injury took away a follow-up act after his breakout junior campaign that
included 7 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles. The injury slowed the momentum
behind Banks who had earned preseason All-SEC honor for the third consecutive year.
Any questions about the explosiveness and athleticism following the injury were addressed
once the drills began. Banks ran a 5.04-second 40-yard dash with a 1.76-second 10-yard split.
He added a 32-inch vertical leap and a 9 foot-6-inch broad jump, strong numbers for a 327-
pound defensive tackle.

Banks’ combination of size, length, and movement is rare. Teams value defensive tackles who
can collapse the pocket without sacrificing power. His measurable suggest that he fits the mold
of a potential dominant interior disruptor.

He entered the week projected to be a late first-round pick, but after today’s showing, multiple
draft analysts now view him as a legitimate top-10 candidate. Banks’ performance may send
him to the stage to shake the commissioners hand earlier than expected.
