Baseball playoffs: Jupiter earns No. 1 seed in Class 7A-Region 3

JUPITER – All roads lead to Jupiter for this year’s FHSAA baseball playoffs in Class 7A.

A year after missing the postseason, the Warriors (19-8) grabbed the No. 1 seed for the regional rounds. This means as long as the District 10-7 champions keep winning their games, they will have three playoff games at home.

Here’s how Jupiter got it done:

•By the time March ended, the Warriors were flying high with a record of 11-2

•Despite an up-and-down stretch for much of April, the Warriors closed out the regular season on a high note with a three-game win streak

•Jupiter is now on a five-game winning streak, which includes a thrilling 9-5 comeback win over Vero Beach on the night of Thursday, May 5 to win the District 10-7A title. The championship game was a tale of two stories, the first of which Jupiter faced a 4-0 deficit to Vero Beach.

“Didn’t start pretty,” Jupiter baseball head coach Andy Mook said of last Thursday night’s (May 5) district title game at home. “But we were able to keep it close with Dylan Jeluso (senior pitcher). He was able to keep us in the game and keep it right where it was. We had a chance to get things going. The kids did a great job. That’s why you play seven innings.”

With the FHSAA releasing the playoff brackets for all seven classifications on Saturday (May 7), Jupiter (No. 1 seed – Region 3) will be hosting Palm Beach Central (14-12; No. 8 seed – Region 3; District 11-7A runner-up) tonight (May 10) at 5 p.m.
