While two or three more games are yet to be announced, and despite stuff competition, the battle between Chaminade and Sierra Canyon has the potential to be one of the best of the entire Broward County Classic.
On the Sierra Canyon side of things, the Trailblazers recently added star defensive lineman Marcus Fakatou to bolster an impressive unit heading into the 2026 season. Rivals’ 26th overall player in the 2027 class, Fakatou brings impressive run defense and pass rush ability to the table, which he showed off last year when he helped Orange Lutheran (CA) defeat Miami Northwestern (FL). Sierra Canyon also has four-star defensive lineman Kasi Currie (#38 nationally for Rivals) and four-star safety Myles Baker (Rivals’ #27 safety in the 2027 class).

Offensively, Sierra Canyon has plenty of talent as well. Headlined by Oklahoma commit Jaxsen Stokes at running back and standout 2028 offensive tackle Lance Ciechanowski, the Trailblazers have the offensive talent to compete with a wide variety of teams.
Shifting over to Chaminade, plenty of talent graduated from the Lions, headlined by now-Texas RB Derrek Cooper and now-Florida State two-sport standout Jasen Lopez. However, there are still plenty of players ready to carry the torch for one of the best programs in Florida.
Offensively, not many schools will have a wideout duo comparable in caliber to 2028 Tromon Isaac Jr. and 2027 Ah’Mari Stevens (Miami). This does not even include the likes of fast-rising 2028 tight end Peter Pierre and talented 2027 running back Amos Bradford. At quarterback, the extremely talented Brady Quinn arrives to replace the departing Malik Leonard; he will look to keep what was an elite offense in 2025 rolling into 2026.
Brady Quinn is special 💯 @QBQuinn2

Defensively, the Lions return standout safety Angelo Smith, who is the brother of Ohio State star Jeremiah Smith, and a very intriguing player in John Gay III. In the trenches, Alexander Beltran, who already holds offers from Ohio State and Miami, could be in store for a breakout season.
There is plenty of time before the whistle is sounded to officially kick off the Broward County Classic. But until then, the matchup between these historic powers from Florida and California is sure to build up plenty of excitement.
