Best of the Best: 561 Private-Public award nominees

Naji Tobias New Era Prep Staff Writer

PALM BEACH COUNTY – Now that the 2021 high school football season has officially ended, it is a great time to honor our area’s best.

With that said, we have launched the second year of what will now be called our Best of the Best Award Series for Palm Beach County as a whole.

Since we have a multitude of private and public high school football programs in our area, we feel that it is best to honor our top student-athletes, coaches and teams in two different ways.

What you will see is a total of nine award categories that are broken down evenly for the private schools and the public schools. This comes out to 18 categories in all.

Here are the award categories:

•Breakthrough Player of the Year
•Underclassman of the Year
•Lineman of the Year
•Offensive Player of the Year
•Defensive Player of the Year
•Special Teams Player of the Year
•MVP of the Year
•Coach of the Year
•Team of the Year

PLEASE NOTE: No high school football team will be represented more than once in any nomination category, which means that no program will have more than nine total nominations.

The area programs with the most award nominations are as follows:

•Benjamin (8)
•Pahokee (7)
•Palm Beach Central (7)
•Jupiter Christian (6)
•St. Andrew’s (6)

Teams with at least one nomination are the likes of Cardinal Newman, Glades Day, Boca Raton, Forest Hill, Palm Beach Gardens, Park Vista, American Heritage (Delray Beach), King’s Academy, Inlet Grove, Seminole Ridge, Jupiter, Atlantic (Delray Beach), Boynton Beach, Glades Central, and Wellington.
