West Palm Beach, FL.– Last Friday night, the Cardinal Newman Crusaders absolutely demolished the John Carroll Golden Rams 45-14.

It was all Crusaders from the jump, sparked initially by 2027 RB/LB Janarro Sumpter. Sumpter shined individually- recording 2 touchdowns from scrimmage, paired up with a 2 INT, 1 Pick 6 night on defense. It was simple- Janarro Sumpter was everywhere for Cardinal Newman, but most importantly he was dancing in the end zone.

First things first, we have to address Janarro’s legendary performance. Was it something he saw on film? Just how the game flowed to him? Either which way, Janarro made his mark on the game, and we’re going to talk about it.

“Watching film is a big part of our defense. Coach Jack takes the time to sit down and break apart bit by bit of what’s going on. Coach Jarred just told me to be a ball player, you know, helping me do what I gotta do to be in a position that I am.” Sumpter stated “I feel like versatility is one of the biggest parts of the game. I can run between the tackles get outside and block whatever is needed then I can turn around and contribute on defense too. I don’t wanna be known as someone who can only do one thing I want the coaches to know wherever you put me on the field. I’m gonna complete plays and make it happen.”

Like I said, Janarro Sumpter has become one of the great showmen in South Florida. Whenever he graces the end zone, it’s time to bust a move.

“I like to dance like anywhere on the field, during the day, in class, what so ever if there’s a beat I’m moving….Nobody taught me how to dance. I just always had a feel for the music and every game, anything I do I’m always moving. When I was in youth ball, my coaches let met me be me, letting me dance, play freely and do what I need to do to get a job done.”

This week, Janarro Sumpter and the Cardinal Newman Crusaders have their most important battle ahead of them, as they travel to face West Boca Thursday night. Last year, the Crusaders downed the Bulls in an overtime thriller, solidifying themselves on the top of the 561 Power rankings.
