HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – In a sense, Denairius Gray will be going from home on the high school level to home on the college level.

We will explain a bit what it means.

On Monday (Jan. 1), the Chaminade-Madonna 2026 wide receiver decided to announce his verbal pledge to Auburn.

A reason for Gray’s ultimate choice could be the presence of Tigers wide receivers coach Marcus Davis, who coaches at his alma mater and has been widely considered as one of the nation’s best young coaches. After all, both Gray and Davis are from Boynton Beach.

Per 247Sports, Gray was recruited directly by Davis himself. You can see this small snapshot for yourself as proof of this.

Even still, the operative word here is because we cannot definitely confirm it at this time.

We will need to speak with Gray himself about his reasoning behind the life-changing decision.

But one thing is certain. Gray loves to be around winners and winning in of itself.

The Chaminade wideout, who transferred from Somerset Academy Canyons during the 2023 offseason, had a banner sophomore year in more ways than one. The 6-foot-2, 178-pound standout had 25 catches for 372 yards and 11 touchdowns in 11 games played for the two-time Class 1M state champion and the nation’s No. 2-ranked team – per MaxPreps.

Gray has the film to prove his otherworldly chops of talent on the field. We have a few plays we want to show you below of what he has done at Chaminade this past season.

The nation’s No. 90 overall player in the Class of 2026 – per Rivals – picked Auburn as the top one of his 24 overall offers to date. Of his 24 offers, 16 of them are from Power 5 schools, including the likes of Florida State, Miami, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, Michigan, Texas A&M, and West Virginia.

In three varsity football seasons – the first two of which were at Somerset Academy Canyons in his hometown of Boynton Beach – Gray has recorded 83 receptions for 1,136 yards, and 26 touchdowns in 23 total games played, per MaxPreps.
