WEST PALM BEACH – Daniel Fellows has been making plenty of gains in the offseason.
With a slew of college offers under his belt, the Berean Christian incoming senior lineman can take his time by weighing his options. Schools such as St. Francis, Oberlin, Carleton, Graceland, Trine, Rochester, and Rose-Hulman are clamoring for his services right now.
And why not?
After all, Fellows finished his junior season with 40 pancakes on the line for Berean Christian. He helped lead his team to a berth in the Sunshine State Athletic Conference playoffs.
“Attitude is everything,” the 6-foot-2, 265-pound lineman said. “As a two-way lineman, I had to constantly outwork fresh opponents, knowing they were receiving breaks and I wasn’t. I had to learn to come out harder and nastier than they were, which led to one of the most successful seasons Berean has had.”
Berean Christian finished last season with a 4-5 record, a three-game win improvement from 2018, when it went 1-7. For Fellows in particular, the most satisfying victory probably came in Week 4, when his team pulled out a 33-19 triumph over Jupiter Christian.
“In my first two seasons, we played and lost to their team,” he said. “They came out talking trash about how we hadn’t won in years, and we came out and played differently than I’ve ever seen Berean. I had a fourth-and-1 tackle for loss that helped to hype up the team and secure the win. It was great seeing us truly come together.”
At this time, Fellows has been climbing our Top 50 player rankings over the past few months. He is currently rated as the No. 3 defensive tackle and No. 28 overall player in Palm Beach County.
“He’s an all-around leader and great man on and off the field,” incoming senior defensive back/wide receiver Rahmsley Estime said of Fellows.
With his senior season primed to start soon, Fellows expects to take his game to another level in the trenches. Should that happen, a deeper level of recognition will be coming his way in the appropriate manner.
“For o-line, I am going to pancake every defensive lineman I go against. For d-line, I will break the line of scrimmage and disrupt every play,” he said. “For team goals, I want a state championship. I won’t settle for anything less.”
