BOYNTON BEACH – Matthew Disisto kept his recruiting process as simple as possible.
After going over his offers – they came from Keiser, Avila, Warner, Culver-Stockton, and Missouri Valley College – the Somerset Academy Canyons outgoing senior punter/kicker didn’t take long to make his final call.
Disisto ended his recruiting process by going with Keiser on Feb. 28. His signing ceremony took place on March 12, which was 13 days after he was set on playing college ball for the Seahawks.
“It is close to home, plus I love and believe in the program the coaches are building,” Disisto said about his Keiser decision.
Looking back on his senior season at Somerset Academy, there was one game in particular that stood out to him. In Week 5 against Village Academy – a 18-15 road win – the 5-foot-7, 165-pound specialist kicked a field goal, a PAT, a touchback, and two 40-yard punts, one of which was downed at the Village Academy 1-yard line.
Disisto, who has earned a 4.5 punt rating from Kohl’s Kicking, reflected on his senior season at Somerset Academy Canyons.
“I will remember the hard work and passion that my team and I shared for the game,” Disisto said. “We all spent lots of time training together, and I was fortunate to make a lot of good memories with my teammates.”
Disisto spoke on his high school experience.
“Throughout my time at Somerset Canyons, my coaches have always pushed me to be the best version of myself on and off the field,” Disisto said. “They have taught me what being a part of a football family is all about.”
Somerset Academy Canyons head coach Tom Halikman shared his thoughts about Disisto’s level of impact on the team.
“Matt’s senior season was one of accomplishments, progress, focused execution, and selflessness,” Halikman said. “An all-in teammate, Matt always put the team’s best interest ahead of everything, and every kick/punt was strategic and purposeful. He left nothing to chance, and his work ethic has always been enviable. While practices and games were a given, Matt invested so much more in pursuing excellence, on the field and in the classroom. Everything he’s achieved is so very well deserved, including his GPA and test scores.”
Halikman on Disisto’s future potential:
“Keiser is an exceptional program, and I expect Keiser fans to have plenty to cheer about going forward,” Halikman said. “I believe Matt will be a big part of that. Keiser is where Matt’s heart is, and we are all very happy for him and his family Selfishly, we are very excited too, because we will still get to see him play.”
