PALM BEACH GARDENS – It’s playoff time for basketball in Palm Beach County.

The first game of the night would be Forest Hill vs. Palm Beach Lakes, and the second would be Dwyer vs. Royal Palm Beach.

Forest Hill and Palm Beach Lakes would come out firing away and matching each other seemingly shot for shot. The Falcons would edge out the Rams in the first 23-22 after a buzzer-beater three by Dee Daniels.

Forest Hill would be up 31-24 midway through the second and force Lakes into a much needed timeout. Falcons would keep their foot on the gas and be up 41-30 at halftime.

Lakes guard Sheldon Edwards would open the half with a long range three to get the Rams rolling to a quick 9-0 run. The Lakes run chopped Forest Hill’s lead to 41-39.

Forest Hill would regain momentum and be up 49-43 going into the fourth after a series of fast break scores.

The Falcons would keep a steady lead midway through the fourth as they were up 53-43.

Ty Hands would knock down a clutch three for Lakes and chop the Falcons lead down to four. But the Rams would miss a few key shots down the stretch and the Falcons would eventually take down the scrappy Lakes squad, 67-60.

Leading scorers for Game 1:

Palm Beach Lakes: Sheldon Edwards and Jalen Holman with 16 points

Forest Hill: Phillip Lyttle with 21 points

Game 2: Dwyer vs. Royal Palm Beach

Dwyer would start out fast with a long three from Miles Coleman and jump to a 11-2 lead.

That would force Royal Palm into a time out with a little under four minutes left in the first.

The Panthers stingy defense would continue to harass the Wildcats, as they would be up 18-9 at the end of the first.

The Panthers would pick up where they left off in the first quarter and go on a quick 5-0 run. The Wildcats just seemed over matched in the first half as they went into halftime down 30-14.

Dwyer would be up 46-29 at the end of the third quarter. Royal Palm couldn’t seem to shake Dwyer’s harassing defense.

With the game well in hand at the start of the fourth quarter, Dwyer would put in its reserve players to finish out the game. The Panthers would top Royal Palm 55-41.

Leading scorers for Game 2:

Dwyer: Miles Coleman with 13 points

Royal Palm: De’Ondre Morris with 15 points

Forest Hill and Dwyer will face off Friday at 7 p.m. at Dwyer High School to see who will be crowned the District 13-8A champion.
