Forest Hill’s lead grew to 16 points early in the second quarter after a pass from Andrews to Jordan Brown for a fast break layup that forced Benjamin into a timeout.
Early team fouls by Forest Hill helped Benjamin cut its deficit down to 10, and Benjamin’s Ben Lubarsky scored on a fast break layup to give the Bucs some momentum.
However, it would be short lived as the starters for Forest Hill entered back into the game with a little over two minutes left in the second to give their team a 46-33 lead going into the half.
Halftime scoring leaders:
Forest Hill – Cody Forbes with 9 points
Benjamin – Ben Lubarsky with 11 points
The Falcons picked up four quick fouls to start the third, and reserves were put in to give the starters a break. Regardless of who played on the court, the home team kept pushing and found a way to extend the lead to 61-40 with 2:54 left in the third on a layup by Roderick Johnson.
Forest Hill would close the third frame with a dominating effort from Brayden Washington, who scored on a three and layup to give his team a 75-50 lead going into the fourth.
The Falcons dominance would continue in the fourth quarter as they scored from all over the court and played stingy defense. Tyler Denson would throw down a huge dunk to put a exclamation mark on the game to defeat Benjamin in the 42-point blowout victory for Forest Hill
Scoring leaders for the game:
Forest Hill – Brayden Washington with 18 points
Benjamin – Lubarsky with 26 points
Observations:
Forest Hill has a very deep bench that will keep it in just about any game. The starting lineup is very dynamic and lengthy. The pace Forest Hill plays with can wear teams out down the stretch as it is able to keep fresh legs on the court at all times.
The Falcons may average 90 points a game at the rate they’re going and with the talent they possess up and down their bench. Forest Hill is currently averaging 85.5 points per game through four games played.
Benjamin has a team that will fight to the bitter end, but it doesn’t possess many shooters that could keep this team in the game. Lubarksy is the guy for Benjamin as he looks like a man amongst boys with his ability to drive to the hole and knock down threes.
