LAKE WORTH – The Lake Worth Trojans look to be in playoff form after downing the Forest Hill Falcons in tonight’s rivalry game.
Lake Worth (20-1) jumped out to a 11-4 lead midway through the first quarter as their defense was hitting on all cylinders and knocking down shots on offense. Jay Medor had the hot hand as he lead the charge for the Trojans.
Forest Hill (19-3) would get settled and close the gap down to 18-14 before the second quarter got underway.
Forest Hill would surge midway through the second quarter and take a 26-22 lead after going on a short run, its first of the night. Falcons guard Dee Daniels knocked down a huge three-pointer that would give some much needed momentum.
Lake Worth guard Avery Brookes knocked down four three-pointers in 90 seconds to give the home team a 40–35 lead. Brookes would have 21 points at the half.
The Trojans would carry their momentum into the third quarter as they lead the entire frame. Brookes would continue to lead the charge as he knocked down a big three-pointer that would give Lake Worth a 13-point lead.
Forest Hill would surge late in the third to cut Trojans lead to eight. It was 56-48 going into the fourth quarter, with Lake Worth still on top.
Forest Hill would cut Lake Worth’s lead down to one point in the fourth quarter after a three-pointer by Mekhi Millander with less than a minute left in the game.
Lake Worth would pull away with 13 seconds left as Medor knocked down two clutch free throws to propel his team to a 75-72 victory.
