Breaking News: 4-Star Quarterback Champ Smith (’27) is transferring to Cocoa, he tells the NewEraPrep staff.

Smith, a 6 foot 2 gunslinger from Ft. Lauderdale has been one of Palm Beach County’s most prolific passers since the beginning of his high school career. Champ possesses elite traits that will certainly transfer over to the next level- including an extremely high football IQ, a rocket launcher attached to his right shoulder and above average athleticism.

Champ Smith has become one of the most highly sought after passers in his class, garnering 15 Division I offers including North Carolina (UNC), Ole Miss, Auburn and Purdue, with many more on the way.

As for Cocoa, the Tigers get their guy. The addition of Champ Smith immediately thrusts Cocoa, a team considered “a QB away” by many, into State Title contention. The Tigers have secured seven total FHSAA State Titles in program history, including three consecutive ‘chips since 2022. I’d also like to add that Cocoa has been a QB factory throughout recent memory, producing three consecutive SEC QB’s (1. Davin Wydner, Ole Miss 2. Blake Boda, Arkansas 3. Brady Hart, Texas A&M).
