Class of 2026 offensive lineman Jourdin Pettaway has committed to the University of West Georgia. After taking his official visit, Pettaway felt confident in his decision.

“I took the OV and they made me and my family feel like a priority,” Pettaway said. “And West Georgia is close to home, so everything is pretty nearby.”

The connection with the coaching staff played a big role in his commitment.

“The coaching staff is some of the realest people I ever met. Their culture was different from the rest,” he said. “And the way they talked about developing me and putting me in the best position to thrive was better than any other school.”

Pettaway also talked about the special bond he formed with the coaches, especially Coach Goddard.

“The bond the coaches and I made during this was next level. Coach Goddard not only feels like a coach but also a mentor,” Pettaway said. “They see me as an IOL at the next level. And I really fit into their run-heavy gap scheme.”

He’s ready to make an early impact on the field as soon as he steps on campus.

“I plan to make a big impact as a freshman. Whether that is starting or being a rotational guy in, I will be on the field!! My body, technique, and mindset will be developed and ready to go.”

Pettaway’s goals are clear and focused on both personal success and team success.

“My goals are to bring UWG a conference championship. Build on the physical identity that they have and not only be a strong player but an even better leader.”

He also believes UWG is the right place to help him reach the next level.

“UWG can help me get to the League. They send a few guys pro and I see that trend continuing with me and the future of this team,” Pettaway said. “Coach Goddard is viewed as one of the greatest ball coaches in FCS right now.”

Off the field, Pettaway already has his major planned and a clear path forward.

“From an academic standpoint, UWG has one of the best business programs in the country. I will major in marketing so I can have an outlet to digital marketing jobs.”
