High school recruitment is at an all-time surplus for Head Coach John Jakus and Florida Atlantic Men’s Basketball as the program has received a commitment from what will be their fourth four-star rated recruit all-time and third straight year landing one.

6-foot-7 forward Jomar Bernard, who hails from The Villages, has agreed to play for the Owls in 2027.

Bernard, the No. 87 overall recruit in 2027 class, chose FAU over multiple other programs, including Kennesaw State, James Madison, Arkansas State, and more.

Standing at 6-foot-7 and 175 lbs, Bernard is a versatile and crafty wing who has the rhythm and range to knock down three-pointers, good amounts of gravity around the rim, the ability to shoot over smaller defenders and post them up, and the physical attributes and mentality to be a plus defender at multiple positions.

In his junior season at The Villages Charter School, Bernard averaged 9.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 32 games (24-8 record). He will be in for a huge senior season under head coach Colt McDowell.

As for Florida Atlantic, Bernard is the Owls’ first commit in their 2027 class and will look to be someone who can contribute right away when he arrives to Boca Raton for the 2027-28 season.
