BOYNTON BEACH – Breaking News: Waden Charles has announced his transfer from Somerset Canyons to Palm Beach Central.
Charles made his decision public today (June 30) via his Instagram and Twitter accounts.
When asked about his decision to transfer to Palm Beach Central, Charles said:
“I chose PBC because they are building a great program that I know I can be apart of and fit right in.â Charles said. “I want to help bring a state championship to Palm Beach County and I feel like with the help of me, we could do that.”
Charles also made sure to show love and appreciation for his former coaches and teammates at Somerset.
“I have nothing but love and thanks for the Somerset community. Thatâs where I started off and I’m forever grateful for everyone who was a part of the journey,â Charles said. “Thank you to Coach Gonzo, Coach Tinsley, Coach Jenco and the rest of the staff for their constant support. To my former teammates, I love you all like family, and I wish every one of you the best of luck.â
Charles is a 6-foot-3 athlete that plays wide receiver and safety. A four-star recruit, he is currently listed as the No. 11-ranked ATH in the country for the Class of 2025 and has also been named to the ESPN Top 300 2025 list.
What makes Charles so impressive is he is the most complete receiver in Palm Beach County. He perfectly pairs his natural size and speed with clean and quick routes, a wide catch radius and glue-like hands.
Another trait Charles possesses is his ability to win 1v1 and contested jump ball battles. If the ball is in the air, he is coming down with it.

Last season, Palm Beach Central had a storybook season, as the Broncos reached the state semifinals for the first time in program history. After graduating a heavy 2023 senior class, the new era of Palm Beach Central football starts now.
Charles will be a perfect addition for Coach Kevin Thompson and his staff in both the present and future. He joins an already loaded young Broncos team that includes four-star ATH Tony Williams (’25), ATH Nedrick Boldin (’25), RB Leon Williams (’24), WR Preston Parker Jr. (’25), and QB Caleb Butler (’26).
With the addition of Charles, Palm Beach Central just became even scarier. We can all expect the Broncos to continue their success from 2022 into the future.
