Jacksonville, FL- We’re back at it again with live coverage from Jacksonville Jaguars’ Training Camp!

Today’s practice featured a lighter workload then yesterday, but still jam packed full of action.

Without further ado, let’s dive in!

Practice opened with mobility drills for all positions. Quarterbacks perfected 3-step crop mobility, alongside pocket strides. Wide Receivers and Tight Ends worked on change of direction and stopping on a dime. Defensive backs focused on back pedaling and flipping their hips, in order to hawking down the ball.

As practice moved along, position groups meshed. QB’s and pass catchers aligned, solidifying chemistry and timing. Trevor Lawrence looked as surgical as ever, finding Gabe Davis, Evan Engram and others for multiple scores.

When gears switched into team drills, the offense and defense clashed in 7v7 and 11v11. During these drills, the Jaguars’ underrated players shined.

Jaguars backup Quarterback, CJ Bethard put on a clinic today. The 30 year old veteran connected with multiple second string pass catchers for big plays.

Those receivers include Devin Duvernay and Denzel Mims. Both route runners dominated today, as Bethard connected for touchdown after touchdown. Expect big years from both players during their inaugural season as a Jaguar.

Staying on offense, another player that shined was second year runningback Tank Bigsby. Last season, Bigsby was used in primarily a “Power-back” role, but it appears the Jags are attempting to diversify his role. Tank’s workload appears to have increased, as he’s rushing, receiving and playing special teams, serving as a kick and punt returner. Today, Bigsby broke off multiple big runs, with his longest being well over 20 yards.

Flipping to the defense, my biggest shoutout came from defensive back, Dewey Wingard. In a battle for the role of “best hair on the team” Wingard appeared to have Trevor Lawrence’s number today, picking QB1 off twice during 11v11. Both plays featured athletic plays on the ball in the back left corner of the endzone. Following his second interception, the Jags’ faithful rose to their feet in applause of the fan favorite safety.

While the specialists fought during team drill, there was just as big of a battle being waged. The Jaguars appear to have a kicker controversy leading into the season. Veteran Riley Patterson and rookie Cam Little are in an all out war for the starting kicker job. During today’s practice, Patterson went 3/4 (hitting 3 ~ 35 yarders, miss 50+), while Little went 4/4 from the same range.

I’m quite interested to see who will kick the 2024 season off later this fall.

Just like yesterday, practice concluded with full team gassers and a meeting with HC Doug Pederson.
