JUPITER – Alex Rosario has put on a show from the start of this season until the very end.

Rosario carried the Jupiter Christian Eagles on his back the entire season as the team’s leading rusher. He earned his status as being one of the top running backs in Palm Beach County for the 2022 season.

It has been a steady progression for Rosario as he worked his way through the ranks to be a top running back in the county.

Here is what Rosario has done through the years at Jupiter Christian:

•2020-2021: Sophomore year – Only played in two varsity games, had nine carries for a total of 56 yards and two touchdowns

•2021-2022: Junior year – Featured in eight games with 80 carries for 565 rushing yards and eight touchdowns; added two 100-yard plus games as well

•2022-2023: Senior year – Featured in 10 games with 124 carries for 1,360 rushing yards and 19 touchdowns; seven 100+ rushing games; no fumbles all season long

Rosario continued his greatness as he was selected to play in the Palm Beach County All-Star Game, emerging as one of the top overall performers. He also received a scholarship from Lytal, Reiter, Smith, Ivey & Fronrath law firm at the conclusion of the All-Star Game on Dec. 17 at The King’s Academy in West Palm Beach.

Rosario spoke on how he reached the point of being an all-star.

“It starts with the people around me. People who support me and guide me and push me no matter what,” Rosario said. “That’s really what has really kept me here and kept me focused. Then just let alone pushing myself, making sure I’m better every single day.”

Jupiter Christian finished its season with a 6-4 record. It was highlighted by a five-game winning streak on the tail end of its season.

Rosario gave credit to the Eagles coaching staff for helping him get to where he is at today.

“Starting with Coach Baz [Alfred], that’s one man I look up to, I can say I can look up to,” Rosario stated. “Everything he does, starting with Christ, let alone talking how he talks about other people, the things that people have to talk about him. Like he’s just an all-around good dude.”

Rosario delved further.

“As well as his brother, Coach B [Bee Alfred] and all the other coaches, they’ve been supportive,” Rosario continued. “They make sure even when I’m the second man in the gassers, they get on me no matter what. So it’s motivation over there no matter what, and it’s a small school, so relationships are tight. I love it over there.”

SEASON OF DEDICATION

Rosario has been faced with obstacles. One of them is having his grandfather being paralyzed, which has motivated him to “turn up” this season.

“One of my main motivations was my grandpa,”Rosario said. “He was recently paralyzed. He used to come out every single day and work out with me from 3pm to 8:30pm. We practiced every single day, swimming at Lake Lytal, then practicing right after that, watching me play recreation league football. This was a season for him. The only man who’s guided me really in life, so I ran every single down, every single snap I played was for him. This season was dedicated to him.”

Being named Breakthrough Player of the Year is a huge honor for Rosario. He gave insight as to what this means to him, coming from Jupiter Christian and being able to represent the school.

“It means a lot, getting recognition, especially being undersized, having people look out for you. It’s motivation,” Rosario said. “It’s overall a great feeling, especially when people overlook you, especially when we don’t play too many big schools, like these 6A and 7A schools. So it’s great to get love.”

Rosario has big plans off the field, as he is making moves at this time. He is involved in two businesses that he has established, with one being in construction and the other as a pressure washing business.

Another focus for Rosario is getting his name and film out to colleges so he can continue his academic and athletic career. He is also preparing for baseball at Jupiter Christian, which will begin its spring season sometime in February 2023.
