The Fields story of success will be on display for all to see right now.
According to statistics that one can see on MaxPreps, the Centennial junior linebacker registered the following numbers after nine games played:
•48 total tackles
•3 sacks
•1 forced fumble
•2 fumble recoveries

Centennial defensive coordinator/defensive line/linebackers coach Aaron Gluff showed the 6-foot-1, 185-pound linebacker some love in his Twitter post.

Fields received more backing from another Centennial assistant coach and recruiting coordinator David Gornitzky.
“Mason has been starting on varsity since his sophomore year,” Gornitzky said. “He’s one of the top linebackers in the Treasure Coast. Navigates traffic well, legitimate run stopper, and has the ability to form in coverage. Knows the defensive scheme in and out. Graded out in the high 80’s all season. He’s going to be one of the – if not best – linebackers on the Treasure Coast for his senior year.”
Fields had at least two standout games this past season. One of them was in Week 6 at Martin County, when he registered a whopping 20 tackles (four tackles for loss), and a sack in Centennial’s 14-13 upset win.
“My best individual moment from that one was the sack in the beginning of the game because it forced a turnover and got the defense hyped up,” Fields said. “Other than that, I did my job throughout the whole game. It was a great team win from start to finish. We had a lot of energy throughout the whole game. And we all had fun.”

The other standout game for Fields was in Week 9 against Treasure Coast. Though it resulted in a 40-7 for Centennial, there was a bright spot from Fields in that one – a fumble recovery for a touchdown in the third quarter.

“It was the first play of the third quarter,” Fields said. “The touchdown went for 54 yards. Halftime just finished and we were down 14-0. They got the ball back after half. We were having a hard time scoring, so our coaches reminded us that we can make plays and score on defense, so that’s what I did.”
The Fields score – plus an extra point by senior athlete Lamar Wilson – cut the Treasure Coast lead to 14-7. It was the closest Centennial would be in that one.
With that said, this particular game resulted in Fields winning our Breakthrough Player of Week 9 honor.

Fields has all the necessary receipts – and more – necessary to make his case for being our first Breakthrough Player of the Year in the Treasure Coast. He is a worthy winner who has a bright future ahead of him, to say the very least.
