DELRAY BEACH – One game at a time, Mathew Hall has been working to make his impact felt throughout the offense at American Heritage (Delray Beach).
In last week’s Class 4A-Region 4 semifinal game against Lemon Bay, the senior wide receiver had perhaps his best performance yet. He tallied four catches for 54 yards and two touchdown in the Stallions 49-7 win over the Manta Rays.
While the stat sheet may not look like much, anything Hall does for the Stallions is very much helpful and appreciate.
Case in point: the 6-foot-5, 200-pound wideout found the end zone on a touchdown pass from American Heritage sophomore quarterback Dylan Rizk to extend his team’s lead to 27-7 late in the first half. He hit paydirt again as he scored Heritage’s first touchdown in the second half to make the score grow from 36-7 to 43-7.
With end zone appearances on half of his catches, Hall did more than enough to be our Breakthrough Player of Week 11.
“Mathew Hall is a very silent but deadly player,” Stallions sophomore Desean Butler said. “He lets the game plays itself out and does his role when needed.”
Butler spoke on Hall’s biggest contribution to the team.
“He’s always positive, and that’s one thing that keeps the team up when adversity hits,” Butler said. “I love him not just as a player, but he’s a great person as well. Mathew is just a overall good person and player.”
NOTES: In seven games this season, the Bowodin verbal commit (decision made on Sept. 19) has 18 catches for 225 yards and four touchdowns.
Bowodin earned the right to have Mathew Hall in his college years over the likes of Wesleyan, Carleton, and Keiser. The Stallions receiver had five total offers, with his first one coming from Bates College.
Hall currently has a 4.76 grade point average, which means Bowodin is getting a true student-athlete on its campus for the next several years ahead.
